About Atelier
This poem is about a girl waiting to find peace
within herself and the immediate world around her. As
the title suggests, "Atelier", the cottage becomes
both a retreat and workshop. She arrives here seeking
refuge from her troubled homeland and a new source of
inspiration for her paintings. The Wisteria beckons
with its profusion of flowers and leisurely grace. It
is the hemline of Spring threaded along the house and
garden. Gathering sprigs and placing them in a clear
jar is the artiist's way of collecting beauty, of
studying how its presence defines her perspective.
Somewhere between light and water , shadow and glass,
she will sense how faith tints the spirit and dark
fears round off into the clarity of an idea
--stillness; its aim to reflect, its power to
transform.
